A donation of publicly traded securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) is the most efficient way to give Honens, as capital gains tax does not apply. You receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of the securities and pay zero tax on the accrued gain, making it more tax-efficient than selling and donating cash.
