Georgy Tchaidze belongs to the brilliant assemblage of exceptional young pianists of the Russian piano school. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of professor Sergei Dorensky and then continued improving his skills at the University of Arts in Berlin under the guidance of Klaus Helwig. Since then, his life has been closely knitted with Germany, where Georgy has been living for over 10 years.

In 2009, Georgy Tchaidze triumphed with brilliance at the Honens Piano Competition in Calgary, Canada. The competition became a successful start of his career, followed by performances in concert halls of Europe, North America, and Asia. The audience applauded his performances at the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, London’s Wigmore Hall, the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing, the Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai, Zankel Hall in Carnegie Hall in New York, and Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. Georgy Tchaidze participates in festivals all over the world: Verbier Festival, Toronto Summer Festival, Lucerne Festival, International Chamber Music Festival in Ottawa, Bad Kissingen Festival, Young Euro Classic, Piano Festival in La Roque-Anthérone, International Festival in Lofoten Islands, Festival in Northern Norway, and Festival Piano aux Jacobins, and La Folle Journée festivals in Nantes, Tokyo, and
Yekaterinburg. His performances were attended by many influential people, including the Governor General of Canada at a special evening of the Glen Gould Foundation.

In the summer of 2015, he won the First Prize at the IV International Piano Competition in Tromsø, Norway, and then performed with a solo klavierband at the International Chamber Music Festival in Lofoten Islands, replacing Sir András Schiff. In 2017, he participated in the Van Cliburn Competition in Texas, where he was among the six finalists.

Even during the pandemic, Georgy Tchaidze preserved an extensive geography of performances: he performed all over the world, from Colombia at the Cartagena Music Festival to a whole tour around the cities of South Africa. In the 2021/22 season, the pianist expanded his Russian touring geography by performing solo in Kazan, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow, as well as the Second Concerto by Shostakovich in Novosibirsk. Additionally, Georgy performed at the evenings dedicated to the memory of Sergei Dorensky together with professor’s best students: Nikolai Lugansky, Denis Matsuev, Andrey Pisarev, and Ekaterina Mechetina. In the spring of 2021, the pianist performed together with cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan for the first time at the Zaryadye Hall in Moscow, and in the 2021/22 season, their duo presented a program at the prestigious Serate Musicali concert series in Milan.

Tchaidze is particularly fond of chamber music. He participated in a grand tour with the Cecilia String Quartet, and also performed with the famous Borodin String Quartet. Favorable reviews in the press state that the pianist is on par with his experienced stage partners in terms of performing skills and expressiveness.

His interest in chamber music allowed Georgy to obtain a residency at the Wiener Konzerthaus: in the 2022/23 season, Georgy, as part of a trio with Nikita Boriso-Glebsky and Narek Hakhnazaryan, will present his first-ever subscription to chamber music.

Georgy Tchaidze’s discography includes several albums released by Honens: a recording of a joint concert with the Cecilia ensemble, a collection of Schubert’s works, as well as a CD with compositions by Medtner, Mussorgsky, and Prokofiev.
