FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I get my tickets?
Print at Home – If you’ve selected ‘Print at Home,’ you’ll receive two emails after confirming your booking. The first email is your receipt. The second will follow shortly with your e-tickets attached. Please check your junk or spam folder if your e-tickets do not arrive within the hour. Show these tickets on your mobile device (or print out) to gain access into the venue.
Will Call – If you’ve selected to collect your tickets then please allow extra time to collect from our Box Office as it can get very busy before performances.
What do I do if I can't find my tickets?
If you have selected the ‘Print at Home’ option and haven’t yet received any emails from us, be sure to check your spam / junk folder. If you have Gmail you may find our tickets in the ‘Promotions’ tab.
If you still can’t locate them, please call the Box Office at 403 299 0130 and we will happily re-send them for you.
What do I wear?
There’s no strict dress code for Honens events, and we encourage you to wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Attire typically ranges from smart casual to more formal dress, with some guests opting for suits or dresses and others in more relaxed styles. We recommend choosing something comfortable for sitting through performances so you can fully enjoy the music.
Honens Lab, Open Air, Storytellers, and Classical Adaptations: These performances are much more relaxed so please feel free to wear what you feel comfortable in. For outdoor events, please double check weather forecast as you may want to bring hats and sunglasses on a sunny day.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes! Our Box Office is open at all venues at least 30 minutes before the concert begins. Please allow yourself extra time to buy tickets.
Even for Sold Out Concerts?
While there may be some tickets available at the door for sold out performances, we cannot guarantee a ticket.
What time do the doors open?
Unless stated otherwise on our website, the lobby will open one hour before the performance begins, and doors to the auditorium will open 30 minutes before the concert starts.
What happens if I'm late?
Our ushers are happy to get you seated at appropriate breaks in the music so you don’t disturb the artist during their performance. Please note, in some cases this may not be possible until end of an entire piece of music.
How long is the concert?
Festival concerts vary in length. Approximate lengths are:
- Honens Lab: There are four sessions as part of Honens Lab. For specific session timing, click here.
- Dialogues with the Piano and Echoes in Motion: 2-hour concert, including a 20-minute intermission
- Reverberations: Chopin Reframed and Neurorecital: 60-minute recital, no intermission
- Bison Noir: 60-minute concert, no intermission
- Storytellers / Classical Adaptations: 40-minute concert, no intermission
- Open Air: 75-minute concert, no intermission
When do I clap?
Applause is always appreciated at Honens performances. As a general guide, it’s customary to wait until the end of an entire piece before clapping (which can have several movements with short breaks between). When in doubt, simply follow the lead of the rest of the audience and feel free to show your enthusiasm at the end of a performance.
Can use my phone to take photos or videos?
Concerts: Before the concert begins, ensure your devices are silenced or turned off. Feel free to snap a quick photo, but please be discrete so you don’t disturb your neighbours or the performers. Make sure your flash is off and your screen is dimmed.
Open Air and Storytellers: For our Open Air and Storytellers events, feel free to take as many photos and videos as you like. We just ask that you share your experiences with us by tagging us on your social media posts!
I can’t make the event, can I get a refund?
First, we recommend trying to find a friend or family member who can take your ticket.
If you are unable to attend a concert—purchased through Honens—or find someone else to use your ticket(s), we are pleased to offer one of the following options:
1. Exchange for Credit
Return the value of the ticket(s) to credit on your account for future use with Honens.
Credit exchange requests must be made at least 24 hours prior to performance start time by calling the Box Office at 403 299 0130 or emailing [email protected].
Account credit must be used within three calendar years. After this time, they will expire.
2. Transfer to Donation
Transfer the value of the ticket(s) into a donation to Honens whereupon you will receive a tax receipt for the full value (applies to $20 tickets and above).
Please note, refund requests must be made by the account holder.
