Pianoscapes

In 2017, for the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, Honens brought together business, music, and visual art for a special gift to the Calgary community. Five donated, upright pianos were designed by Calgary visual artists with their own unique reflections of Canada. The pianos were unveiled on 7 September 2017 on Stephen Avenue Walk, where five Festival pianists performed on them together.

Each piano was then placed in accessible community and public spaces across Calgary and made available for free, public programming. If you’re ever looking for a place to practice, try one of these!
