Offered to elementary-aged students, Honens school concerts provide an engaging musical experience and build relationships between the past and the 21st century. Each session will combine music from video games, pop songs, and movies with classical masterworks and explores the building blocks of music.
By providing exposure to live performance, students gain a deeper appreciation for piano and piano music. Plus, who doesn’t love a good game of Beethoven, Not Beethoven?!
Sessions are 45 minutes in length and include a concert, games, and a Q&A session, and can be tailored to your school and community.
Honens encourages applications from schools without music programs or from those which have few opportunities to present live music or work with artists.
A recital at the Honens International Piano Competition can be an enriching experience for high school students. Watching skilled pianists perform can inspire students to improve their own skills (musical or otherwise) and build an appreciation for the dedication required to master any profession. In addition, it can help provide perspective on building confidence, dealing with pressure, and how judges assess performances.
Honens will provide transportation, a pre-concert seminar, and the opportunity for like-minded people to connect. All you need to do is bring the students!
Your Contribution counts
