Honens is pleased to announce Jan and Larry Fichtner as the 2022 Honens Honours recipients. Honens Honours pays tribute to individuals and organizations whose dedication to the arts, like Esther Honens, has made an extraordinary contribution to our city, province, and country. Larry has served as a director of many arts organizations over the years, including Honens, the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre.
Both Jan and Larry are committed to bringing together artists for one-of-a-kind collaborations, often in their home, with the end goals being the creation of amazing musical experiences and the support of emerging and established artists alike.
The Fichtners have been a part of the Honens Family since 1992 when they hosted Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, who competed in the first ever Honens International Piano Competition. Their close friendship with Jean-Efflam and his family continues to this day.
Please join us in celebrating Jan and Larry Fichtner on 26 October for a gala dinner. The evening will be hosted by Canadian mezzo-soprano, Julie Nesrallah, followed by a recital by acclaimed pianist, 2013 MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, and 2022 Competition Mentor-in-Residence, Jeremy Denk.
