Georgy Tchaidze

Georgy Tchaidze  2009 First Laureate

Georgy Tchaidze, First Laureate of Canada’s Honens International Piano Competition (2009), is a native of St Petersburg, Russia. He began music studies at age seven, and today completes a degree at the Moscow State Conservatory with Sergey Dorensky. Tchaidze’s performances of Rachmaninov Etudes-Tableaux and Preludes have been broadcast on Russian national radio and he often appears across Russia in recital and in performance with chamber ensembles. Before becoming First Laureate of the Honens Competition, Tchaidze appeared on the summer concert series of The International Holland Music Sessions. His Honens win allows him to bring his artistry beyond Russia for performances throughout Europe and North America for the first time. Aside from music, Tchaidze is a film buff – those of Jean-Luc Godard are among his favourites.
