Born in South Korea, Soyeon Lee began piano studies at age five. She moved to the United States at age nine and has now earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Jerome Lowenthal and Robert McDonald. Lee has performed at major New York venues including Carnegie Hall's Zankel and Weill Recital Halls, Merkin Concert Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Art's Alice Tully Hall. She has also been heard throughout the United States on National Public Radio. Lee gave the first ever eco-awareness concert at Zankel Hall in February 2008, wearing a specially commissioned concert gown made of used juice pouches by eco-fashion designer Nina Valenti.
