Jonathan Floril began piano at age 11 in Ecuador, and moved to Spain and subsequently New York to continue his studies. Now a student of Marc Silverman in the Bachelor of Music program at the Manhattan School of Music, Floril won first prize in the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Competition in February 2008. He made his debut recital in 2007 at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Spain and has performed in Switzerland, Ecuador and the United States. A philosopher at heart, Floril admires the works of Schopenhauer, especially The World as Will and Representation.
