Christoph Campestrini conductor
Conductor Christoph Campestrini is one of Europe’s fastest rising stars. He has appeared as guest conductor with more than 80 orchestras on five continents to critical acclaim, including the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Born in Linz, Upper Austria, Campestrini moved to New York in 1985 where he received his Bachelor of Music in conducting, piano, and composition from The Juilliard School while also studying philosophy and languages at Columbia University. He is fluent in German, English, Italian, French, Russian and Spanish. Campestrini served as 1.Kapellmeister (Principal Conductor) at the prestigious Essen Aalto Musiktheater and the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra where he conducted more than 100 performances of 15 different operas. He records for the German labels SIGNUM and ORFEO.
