First Laureate of the 1992 Honens International Piano Competition, Yi Wu was born into an artistic family, showing remarkable musicality as a very young child. He began his musical studies at age four and was accepted into the Shanghai Conservatory at age ten. At 16 he emigrated to Argentina where he studied with Aldo Antognazzi. He made his professional debut at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires at age 17 and quickly rose to national prominence. Yi Wu continued his studies at Argentina's Beethoven Conservatory, and at USC and SMU in the USA. Today he performs with some of the world's most prominent orchestras and conductors, and is known for his sensitive and intelligent performances.
