Rediscovering America
Laureate of the 1996 Honens International Piano Competition, Eugene Watanabe was the first artist to graduate from The Curtis Institute of Music with degrees in two instruments, piano and violin. He has displayed his prowess on both instruments by playing concerto performances with each at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. At another concert with the Utah Symphony, Watanabe performed two Bach violin concertos in the first half and a keyboard concerto in the second. Since 1997, Watanabe has devoted almost all his efforts to his piano playing. He has played concerts in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and makes a special effort to perform at public schools wherever his career takes him.
